Thermodynamic properties of pyrope and grossular from vibrational spectroscopy
American Mineralogist (June 1991) 76 (5-6): 880-891

Abstract

Heat capacity and entropy for pyrope and grossular are calculated using a statistical thermodynamic approach and a density of states derived from previous single-crystal IR and Raman spectra obtained for natural, nearly end-member, garnets.
