Variscan structure of south west England and related areas; proceedings of a meeting

The stratigraphy and structure of the Devonian rocks around Liskeard, East Cornwall, with regional implications
Journal of the Geological Society of London (January 1986) 143 (1): 95-105

Abstract

New macrofaunal evidence is put forward to confirm that rocks in this area are of Lower to early Upper Devonian age. Open shallow marine shelf conditions prevailed with local development of pillow lavas and pillow fragment breccias. A Middle Devonian axial ridge running from Tor Bay to Bodmin has been identified, separating a redefined Trevone basin from the S Cornish basin. A steeply- dipping slaty cleavage associated with gently plunging, major early folds is seen in the Liskeard area.
