Retrieval of uncracked single crystals from high pressure in piston-cylinder apparatus
American Mineralogist (October 1988) 73 (9-10): 1195-1197

Abstract

Single crystals of San Carlos olivine have been pressurized to 2.0- 3.0 GPa, 1200 degrees C and retrieved with few or no cracks from the piston-cylinder apparatus. Cooling rate is a major factor controlling crack formation.
