Abstract

Highly siliceous zeolites are strong Bronsted acids and possess unique catalytic properties. They may be synthesized from low-Si zeolites by a de-alumination process using SiCl (sub 4) vapour or (NH (sub 4) ) (sub 2) SiF (sub 6) solution. Similar treatment of phyllosilicates such as muscovite, phlogopite and K-depleted phlogopite failed to produce high-Si zeolites.
