Abstract

Calcic soils, in alluvial chronosequences, have regional variations in their content of secondary CaCO (sub 3) . The morphology and amount of secondary CaCO (sub 3) can be used as correlation tools and to date calcic soils. Information is derived on the dissolution/precipitation history of the soil formation and the prevailing climatic, sedimentological and geological events.
