Vibrational spectroscopy in the mineral sciences
Vibrational spectroscopy in the mineral sciences (in Microscopic to macroscopic; atomic environments to mineral thermodynamics, Susan Werner Kieffer (editor) and Alexandra Navrotsky (editor))
Reviews in Mineralogy (1985) 14: 9-63
A coherent description of the vibrations of small molecules and crystalline systems is given. Simple models and concepts are reviewed. Then IR spectroscopy and Raman spectroscopy are discussed. The vibrational spectra of forsterite serve as a worked example.
