Abstract

Alkaline volcanics and minor intrusives range in age from Triassic (230 m.y.) to mid-Cretaceous (92 m.y.) and represent activity on the Oman continental margin throughout the Mesozoic. Small-volume activity occurred during the initial Triassic rifting event and then during local tectonic instability preceding closure of the ocean basin in the early part of the Late Cretaceous.
