Abstract
Activity in the northern Rockies during 1981 was at unprecedented levels. During 1981, 3,560 wells were completed in the region, compared with 2,912 wells during 1980. Exploratory drilling resulted in 343 discoveries, of which 251 were oil and 92 were gas. Development drilling resulted in 1,629 successful wells.--Journal abstract.
