Abstract

For the brucite reverse= periclase + water reaction the volumetric method gives equilibrium brackets as follows: 690 degrees - 725 degrees C at 4 kbar, 720 degrees -745 degrees C at 5.1 kbar, 740 degrees -765 degrees C at 6.1 kbar, 785 degrees -806 degrees C at 8.1 kbar. These results compare favourably with other studies and with P-T curves constructed from thermochemical data.
