Abstract

Colusite occurs as small euhedral crystals in vugs in marble at the Lorano quarry near Carrara, Italy. Morphology and XRD data indicate the correct space group to be P43n. Microprobe results and cell dimensions for two crystals are V 3.3, 3.1; Cu 50.1, 49.5; S 31.2, 30.2; Sb 1.4, 0.92; Sn 0.26, 6.6; Ge 0.63, 1.1; As 13.6, 8.8; = 100.49, 100.22; a 10.532, 10.606 A. Indexed XRD data and reflected light optical data are included. The ideal formula is Cu (sub 26) V (sub 2) (As,Sn) (sub 6) S (sub 32) .
