Abstract
Panasqueiraite, CaMgPO (sub 4) (OH,F) occurs in the hydrothermal vein system at Panasqueira, Portugal, as massive, fine-grained, pink aggregates. Electron microprobe analysis gave CaO 31.0, MnO 0.0, FeO 0.4, MgO 22.9, P (sub 2) O (sub 5) 39.6, F 3.1, OH (calc.) 6.7, less O = F 4.4, = 99.3. Optical properties are 2V (sub gamma ) 51(2)o, alpha 1.590(2), beta 1.596(2), gamma 1.616(2), b = gamma , alpha :c +22 degrees ; D 3.27(1), g/cm (super 3) . Probable space group is C2/c; a 6.535(3), b 8.753(4), c 6.919(4) A, beta 112.33(4)o. New unit-cell parameters for isokite were calculated. Indexed XRD data are included; strongest lines 2.626(100), 3.02(86), 3.20(67), 2.584(45), 1.722(33) A.
