A Symposium on the Electrical Parameters of Rocks, sponsored by the Utah Geophysical Society, (SEG Local Section) and the Department of Geological and Geophysical Sciences of the University of Utah, was held at the University of Utah, March 15–17, 1972. The purpose of the symposium can best be stated as an attempt to bring together a group of scientists, from different subdisciplines of geophysics, involved in measurement of the electrical parameters of rocks. It was expected that persons concerned with oil and gas, mining, geothermal, groundwater, crustal and upper-mantle, or lunar exploration could benefit by a symposium which stressed diversity of applications of knowledge. This proved to be the case.
