A study which covers portions of Bottineau, McHenry, Ward, and Renville Counties, North Dakota is described. Conventional seismic data and deep well control combine to form an ideal model for study of the Devonian Prairie salt and its effects on overlying reservoir beds. The trapping mechanism in one oil field and reasons why several structures are dry can be explained with the results of this review.
