Abstract

Special circumstances occasionally warrant a departure from Geophysics' policy of not publishing previously published material. Such an exceptional case is the following translation from the Russian of a paper by V. V. Fedynskiy summarizing observations of a group of Soviet geophysicists who recently toured the United States. These remarks should be of interest to a large number of our readers, as an indication of how Soviet geophysicists view their American counterparts. The present text is based on an original translation by V. P. Sokoloff, courtesy of the American Geological Institute.
