Abstract

Reflection profiling obtained as accessory data to crustal refraction profiles reveals 5.5 km of relief associated with the Barracuda Fault in the Atlantic Ocean, one of the potential Mohole sites. The data also suggest three possible depositional environments. Additional reflection work of this quality in the world's ocean basins can add very significantly to our knowledge of submarine geology.
