Danilo A. Rigassi reported an experiment measuring, with a theodolite, elevations across a vertical fault. The elevation difference across the fault was measured hourly from 4:25 A.M. to 20:00 P.M. on June 8, 1960. It varied from a low of 99.311m at 6:00 A.M. to 99.324m at 20:00 P.M. Rigassi attributes this variation to differential tidal motion of the denser Cretaceous horst against the surrounding Oligocene region.
