A simple method is described for computing the waveform to be expected from a closely-spaced pattern of shots or geophones when the individual signal is a pulse. Four strength distributions are compared, and the case of uniform strength along the pattern is discussed in detail. It is concluded that if the individual signal is a short pulse, such as a seismic reflection, then the performance of the pattern is quite comparable for the four source distributions considered.
