Efficiency of offshore gravity meter exploration (stations occupied daily) is analyzed statistically as a function of wave height. For the surveys investigated, the number of stations occupied daily can best be represented by the line of regression, Yc = 49.85-8.75X, where X equals wave height (as defined herein), and Yc equals number of stations. Cost of offshore gravity meter surveys is shown to vary as much as 50 percent depending on planning involving sea conditions. Application of forecasts of sea and weather conditions is discussed and savings achieved through their use are demonstrated.
