Abstract

Seismic studies in a caliche covered area revealed existence of a prominent surface wave group. The dispersive characteristics of this wave group and the existence of retrograde elliptical particle motion place it in a class of Rayleigh waves. Examples of vertical as well as two-component motion are presented.
