COVER: Summit crater of Erta Ale volcano, northern Afar, Ethiopia. Erta Ale is situated just north of the Central Afar region, which Rime et al. propose represents an early stage of the formation of an oceanic plateau, similar to the Greenland-Iceland-Fareo Ridge. The authors challenged themselves to take an image of their fixed-wing drone undertaking a photogrammetric survey (in orange on the picture) with a second drone exactly at the moment it was overflying the crater. See “Central Afar: An analogue for oceanic plateau development” by Valentin Rime et al., p. 819–824.
