We are pleased that R. Mazumder has given our paper (Eriksson and Simpson, 2000) careful scrutiny and below we address and clarify the misconceptions raised in his commentary.


First, Mazumder claims that removal of the semidiurnal signature should reduce the spectral analysis peak at around 13 (Eriksson and Simpson, 2000, Fig. 5) to 6–7. This would be the case if a complete semidiurnal record was preserved throughout the Moodies sandwave deposit.
