Eriksson and Simpson (2000) claimed that the Moodies tidal data demonstrate the potential for constraining the lunar orbital periods and orbital shape during the Archean. Their claim, however, will remain undersubstantiated until the following issues are clarified.


First, Figure 5A of Eriksson and Simpson (2000) shows a peak around 13, which is interpreted as a response to neap-spring-neap cycles, containing both dominant and subordinate flood-tide foreset bundles (p. 833).
