Abstract

Discoveries of Late Devonian-Early Mississippian Radiolaria in the Gwydir terrane, eastern Australia, indicate that much of the terrane is younger than previously thought. Radiolaria provide valuable constraints on the timing of the development of the Gwydir terrane. Moreover, this new biostratigraphic data indicate that previously published models detailing the development of the New England orogen need to be reappraised.
