Abstract

A suspect terrane exists along the western flank of the Central Cordillera in the Colombian Andes. It consists of sea floor of Late Jurassic or Early Cretaceous age that was accreted onto the continental edge at about 125–130 Ma, along the Romeral fault zone, during a pause between the Jurassic and Cretaceous cycles of plutonism.
