Abstract

Altered limestone or marble was noted on Rhum off the west coast of Scotland, by Geikie, and has recently been rediscovered. There are two small outcrops, whose contacts are hidden but which apparently lie in a fault zone. The limestone contains calcite, diopside, vesuvianite, grossularite, leucoxene, and varying amounts of tilleyite. The age is problematic but evidence seems to point to Lewisian (Precambrian).
