Abstract

In June 1955, several cores were taken in the English Channel between the Channel Islands and Plymouth. The method of study is briefly described, and the fossils contained, primarily foraminifers, ostracods, and brachiopods, are noted in more detail and compared with those of Eocene limestones in other areas. The evidence points to the presence of Eocene strata in place along an east-west line west of Jersey.
