Abstract

Cores of bottom samples of bedrock from the area around Lands End, Cornwall, at the western end of the English Channel, were collected at 11 stations. The rocks identified in the cores were Cretaceous chalk, New Red sandstone, Devonian sandstone, claystone, and slate, and nepheline phonolite. The distribution of the rock types beyond the Cornwall land area is tentatively formulated.
