Abstract

The Saxa Vord chloritoid schists of Unst, Scotland, are considered to have resulted from a second metamorphic episode of the Saxa Vord block, at which time kyanite, chloritoid, and garnet were formed. The chemistry of the formation is discussed; nine chemical analyses of the schists, chloritoid, and garnet are given. The schists are assigned to the albite-epidote-amphibolite facies.
