Abstract

A deep boring at Abba, Syria, penetrated 9,000 feet of Tertiary through Permian strata, and then somewhat more than 1,000 feet of thin-bedded micaceous shales and sandstones yielding a fauna whose graptolites are described as the new species, Diplograptus spinulosus. A Llandeilo age (Ordovician) is indicated by the trilobites of the fauna.
