In 1953, Pflug described spores and pollen grains which were claimed to show angiospermlike germinal apertures, and made several new genera. It is here suggested that Poropianites is actually a trilete fern spore. Three other genera described by Pflug--Classopollis, Circumpollis, and Canalopollis--are pollen grains similar to those of the Jurassic araucarian described by Kendall as Pagiophyllum connivens.
