Abstract

It has been stated by Jeffreys, in both the first and second editions of his book, "The earth," that Wegener's postulation of the fit of the South American and African shore lines is an error of almost 15 degrees . It is here reported that careful checking shows that Jeffreys' statement is in error, and that this so-called misfit must be withdrawn as an argument against continental drift. The method of checking the fit is described.
