Abstract

The Jos plateau, Nigeria, consists chiefly of the Younger Granite complex intruded into basement gneiss and older granites. Columbite is a primary accessory heavy mineral of the biotite granite phases of the Younger Granite, and does not occur in the other members of the Younger Granite or in the Older Granite. The crystals are found chiefly in the medium- and even-grained variety and show a prismatic to acicular development.
