Abstract

An objection is raised to the identification of beds in the Caribbean area as Miocene on the basis of the presence of Miogypsina, as proposed by Eames. Basal Camana beds in southern Peru contain Miogypsina and are Oligocene on the basis of correlation with beds in Ecuador. A reply by Eames reaffirms his belief that much of the so-called Oligocene is lower Miocene.
