Study of the hornblende schist and hornblende xenoliths in granites and diorites of the Glen Tilt complex, Perthshire, Scotland, indicates that the typical two-hornblende generation appinites of the complex represent modified hornblende schist which was derived from epidiorite. The quartz- orthoclase appinite of the complex, however, is considered to have developed from hornblendite. Chemical analyses are included.
