Abstract

Re-examination of specimens labeled Monograptus runcinatus from the Upper Birkhill shales, Glenkiln Burn, Dumfriesshire, Scotland, now in the collections of the Birmingham University, shows them to belong to Diversograptus, not previously recorded in Great Britain. Study of the specimens confirms Bulman's suggestion regarding the origin of the two stipes from the sicula. One of the stipes is of the nature of a cladium, the other is a normal uniserial monograptid stipe.
