Abstract

The age of strata between the Carboniferous and Triassic in the Midlands, England, has been in dispute, and the beds have been officially classified as one or the other. The extent of orogeny, erosion, deposition, and evolution of faunas and floras is comparable to that of other systems, and it is suggested that the deposits from the base of the Enville beds to the top of the Lower Mottled sandstone be separately designated as Permian.
