Abstract

Describes the stratigraphy, faunas, and petrography of the Dogger (middle Jurassic) beds of Rosedale and Farndale valleys southwest of Whitby, Yorkshire, England. The Lias-Oolite (lower Jurassic-middle Jurassic) junction is defined; a three-fold subdivision of the Dogger beds is recognized and redefined. Petrographic data on the chamosite oolites are included.
