Abstract

It is proposed that the term "Estuarine Series," applied to the middle Jurassic rocks of Yorkshire, England, and since found to be a misnomer, be replaced by "Deltaic Series." It is also proposed that the wedging Millepore series and its equivalent, the Whitwell Oolite, the boundary between the lower and middle divisions, be replaced by the more persistent Eller Beck Bed. In the discussion it is suggested that place names be used for all the deltaic divisions and that the word "beds" be substituted for "sub-series."
