Abstract

Reviews the widespread evidences of deep erosion on a pre-Triassic peneplain, such as discoloration of the rock and changes of character and composition considered due to weathering processes, noting with horror that these effects have been recently ascribed to metamorphism occurring after the deposition of the Triassic but limited in action by the impervious character of the basal Triassic beds.
