Abstract

The examination of fossils from Dunghan hill and its vicinity shows that the lower part of the "Dunghan" limestone is Maestrichtian (Cretaceous), the middle is Ranikot (Eocene) and the upper beds are Laki (Eocene). Fossils from the "Dunghan" limestone near Harnai attest its upper Ranikot age. The name Harnai limestone is proposed for these beds, which are correlated with the upper levels of the Khairabad limestone of the Salt Range of India.
