The Auvergne is one of the most diverse geological areas of France and has been the subject of geological guides since Scrope (1836). This book follows in this long tradition. It is the only modern English text on the area, and thus serves as an important reference for either individuals or groups. The text is very comprehensive in terms of itineraries, and those areas I personally knew before reading are clearly described.
