This book sets out to provide a high-level reference book in marine geochemistry for post-graduates in Earth Sciences and presumably for post-doctoral and more experienced researchers as well. The editors have assembled an impressive cast of authors. The result is a very useful text that is certainly comprehensive in its outlook. It is a valuable contribution to the literature and is an important book to have in any Ocean/Earth Science library.

Some of the chapters are outstanding. I was particularly impressed by Schulz’s review on pore-water geochemistry, which is comprehensive covering all aspects including theoretical considerations, sampling, pore-water extraction, storage...
