This publication presents 14 papers that have arisen from the Land–Ocean Evolution Perspective Study (LOEPS) which forms part of the Land–Ocean Interaction Study (LOIS), a NERC-funded Community Research Project. While LOIS has a number of objectives, each incorporating a variety of fields of study, the LOEPS programme attempts to further our understanding of the way coastal systems work and how they may respond to natural and anthropogenically driven changes.
