Mr. President, SEG members, and friends: I appointed Stuart Simmons as a postdoctoral fellow in the geology department at the University of Auckland in 1986. This was, in effect, also a joint position at the associated Geothermal Institute. His task then was to study an epithermal gold prospect in central Kalimantan, Indonesia.
