I was asked by Don Canfield to write this memoir about four years ago. I put him off for quite a while, as we were busy doing revisions on our textbook, ‘The Earth System’, by Lee Kump, myself, and Rob Crane. The new (4th) version has me as first author, as Lee is now Dean of the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences here at Penn State, and Rob was already retired. I myself retired at the end of June 2022, but I retain an office in Deike building and have been enjoying going in there...
