Professor Robert Thunell, a Carolina Distinguished Professor at the University of South Carolina and an alumnus of the Graduate School of Oceanography at the University of Rhode Island, passed away on Monday, 30 July 2018, as a result of cancer. He was 67 years old.
Dr. Thunell graduated from Brown University in 1973 with a B.A. in Geology/ Biology. He earned a M.S. degree in 1976 and a Ph.D. in 1978 from the Graduate School of Oceanography (GSO).
