Richard Paul “Dick” Zingula passed away on 12 June 2017 in Houston, Texas, at the age of 88. He was a long-time paleontologist/geologist with the Humble Oil & Refining Company and Exxon Company, USA. During his career in the oil industry, Dick's principle area of expertise was foraminifera, but he was also interested in a wide range of invertebrate fossils including calpionellids, tintinnids, calcareous nannofossils, ostracods, corals and mollusks. As a volunteer with the Houston Gem and Mineral Society, he gave presentations on fossil identification and taught a 12-week course on “Invertebrate Paleontology”.
