Abstract
Study and evaluation of faunas from various localities in India and Ceylon point to possible revisions of age determinations. Apart from the Mekran series, no unquestionable marine middle or upper Miocene beds have been identified in India or Ceylon. The Quinlon limestone is probably lower Miocene; the Karikal beds are probably Pliocene; and the Cuddalore sandstones are probably Pliocene but younger than the Karikal beds. A list of all recorded species, with present determinations, is given.
