A discussion of the shell characteristics of the recently made gastropod genus, Bathonella Yen (1948), in which they are compared with those of the genus Viviparus Montfort (1810). It is concluded that there are no differences of generic importance. There is also no satisfactory evidence that Bathonella is of marine rather than fresh- or brackish-water habitat.
