Re-examination of the trilobite fauna (including the genera Pseudatops, Eodiscus, and Protolenus) and a hyolithid from the Llanberis slates of the Penrhyn quarries at Bethesda, Caernarvonshire, Wales, confirms the placing of the strata within the lower Cambrian. Comments on the systematic position of the Hyolithidae are given.
